Representative Brian McCall, 49, serves as a member of the Texas House of Representatives. Elected in 1991, Mr. McCall, a Republican, has represented the areas of North Dallas, Frisco, Allen and Plano. His current district is that of Plano. He has been recognized nationally for his efforts in the fields of bio-technology and technology. Texas Monthly magazine concluded that McCall is "the example of propriety and hard work." in the Texas House. His areas of legislative accomplishment include health-care, bio-technology, high-technology, identity theft, and tax and budget policy. Representative McCall wrote and passed the largest tax-cut bill in the history of the ninth largest economy in the world.
A long-time civic community volunteer, McCall is founder and Chairman of the Board of The Empowerment Project, a non-profit organization that has sent over ten million dollars worth of math and science books to disadvantaged schools in the Republic of South Africa, is helping to construct a library in Vietnam through the Libraries of Love organization, and has supported small business women and their families in Mexico through the Chiapas Project by making microfinance loans to small business women who qualify for the program thus empowering their families. Also, The Empowerment Project has raised over $250,000 that provides direct support for the medical needs of children in North Texas.
Representative McCall is President of Westminster Capital Corporation, a venture group which focuses on strategic acquisitions in the middle market. With his brother, David, he operates Snow Hill Farm.
McCall holds a Bachelors degree from Baylor University, a Masters degree from Southern Methodist University, spent a year as a Visiting Post-Graduate student at Oxford University, and earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is an advisor to Guaranty Insurance and Quest Network Business Solutions.
